About New Bright Minds

We are a programming plus class. Gifted children aged 8 to 14 who have dropped out of school or do not get enough of what they need at school can program here 1 or 2 days a week during school hours, from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm.

These children are sometimes just starting out, but often already advanced in programming. They are busy designing games and learning code and occasionally have questions, which you can help them with. We work with small groups of approximately 4-8 children, max 12.

These children learn very autonomously, but sometimes suffer from school trauma. They are often 'adult' in a certain way and still a child at the same time. Treating them with respect and taking them seriously, not bossing them around but 'just' sharing your passion and nerding out about games and coding together, works best. You will also receive guidance from a psychologist, also for questions or struggles. It is important that you are somewhat familiar with trauma, self-reflection or burn out (possibly from your own experience) and are open to working in a trauma-sensitive manner. Preferably also somewhat familiar with giftedness. It is important that your children feel good.

We are looking for companies that want to make a social contribution AND at the same time help to reduce the scarcity of IT professionals. Companies that want to lend their IT people to guide our children; IT professionals who are good at programming and who enjoy coaching and assisting in the classroom.

Would you like to contribute as a company and do something fun? Do you have employees who are interested in coming to assist on Mondays (Amsterdam Oud West) and/or Fridays (currently Amstelveen)?

Classes are from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM (3:00 PM) with a break at 12:00 PM. We prefer one day (for the children), but if you would like to assist for 2-3 hours (preferably 10am-12pm or 1pm or 12pm-2pm), that works for us too.

Please contact us so that we can see together what is possible!

Sincerely,

Christina (psychologist, founder and mother of 1 of the children)
