Enjoy being outside together. Hearing the birds sing, smelling the flowers and trees. Just walking around the street is good for clearing the head and exercise is important for everyone. You can have a nice chat while walking. Elderly people often walk with a walker that provides support, but no comfort.
You can consciously walk somewhere for an errand or a drink on a terrace or at the Huis van de Wijk, but simply walking to the nearby park and sitting on a bench there before walking back is often enough.
You make the elderly very happy with it. They come out of their isolation and can feel less lonely. It does not have to be done every week, but preferably on a regular basis. And make an appointment for next time. (subject to weather and other circumstances) Then they have something to look forward to. And you can build a nice bond if you see each other regularly.

A team of volunteers mans the reporting station, answers the telephone, makes matches between client and volunteers and supports administration. Another team of volunteers is working in the district.
We mainly offer practical support through various services to the elderly and those in need in Buitenveldert. The organization is well rooted in the district. Volunteers can help to ensure that independent living at home remains pleasant for as long as possible.
